Raj Ghat is not just a memorial — it is a place of national reverence. The site is visited by heads of state, dignitaries from around the world, and millions of ordinary citizens who come to pay their respects to the man who led India to independence through non-violence.
The memorial was designed by architect Vanu G. Bhuta and features a simple black Bharat Mata granite platform inscribed with Gandhi's last words — "Hey Ram." Surrounding the memorial are beautifully maintained gardens with trees planted by world leaders including Queen Elizabeth II, President Eisenhower, and Ho Chi Minh.
