History

From Azim Bagh to nursery

Known as Azim Bagh in Mughal times, the site later became a nursery supplying plants for the new capital in the early twentieth century.

Restoring the landscape

The Aga Khan Trust for Culture worked with public agencies to restore monuments and bring the nursery's heritage, gardens and ecology together.

A living heritage setting

Sunder Burj, Lakkarwala Burj and other Mughal-era structures sit within a landscaped setting linked to the wider Humayun's Tomb heritage area.

Published summer hours

7 am-10 pm daily. The dedicated timing page lists last entry at 9 pm; the visitor FAQ lists 9:30 pm. Use 9 pm as the cautious cutoff and confirm before a late visit.

Seasonal and event changes

Confirm before visiting, particularly outside summer. Temporary closures and separately ticketed event areas may limit where you can go.

How to reach

Address and entrance

Sunder Nursery, Nizamuddin, near Humayun's Tomb, off Mathura Road. Select the park entrance rather than the tomb entrance for your drop-off.

By Metro

JLN Stadium on the Violet Line is a useful option, followed by an auto ride. The park also lists Jangpura, Khan Market and Supreme Court stations as alternatives.

Parking

Paid parking is available. Inside-park car parking is listed at Rs 100 for four hours on weekdays and Rs 200 on Sundays and gazetted holidays; verify the current rate at entry.
